We’re so excited to share a special opportunity with our 2nd grade students! 📚✨

Thanks to the 2nd & 7 Foundation, each student received their very own copy of Little Lily’s Legacy—a meaningful story that promotes kindness, teamwork, and giving back.

To make this experience even more memorable, Patriots Head Coach Mike Vrabel has shared a special video for students to follow along as they read. What an incredible connection between literacy and inspiration!

Be sure to ask your child about the story and enjoy reading together at home! 💙🏈

Our youngest students have been having a blast combining literacy, science, and art! 🚀📚🎨

In literacy, we read Dancing Through Space by Lydia Lukidis and illustrated by Sawyer Cloud. This inspiring biography tells the story of Dr. Mae Jemison, the first woman of color to travel into space. We read the book the day before the Artemis rocket launch, making the experience even more exciting!

During science, students watched clips of the Artemis launch as well as footage from Dr. Jemison’s historic 1992 mission. After seeing photos and videos of her, one amazed student exclaimed, “You mean she is real!”—a powerful moment that brought the concept of a biography to life. We even watched as she suited up for her journey into space.

In art, creativity soared as students designed their own rockets, transformed photos of themselves into astronauts, and painted moons for our bulletin board.

It has been an unforgettable, cross-curricular adventure that sparked curiosity, creativity, and inspiration. The sky is not the limit—it’s just the beginning! 🌕✨🚀 We plan to watch clips of the landing next week.

Our K–2 students recently enjoyed a fantastic field trip to Spruce Peak Arts for a lively performance of Pete the Cat! 🎭🐾

For many of our students, this was their very first time experiencing live theater—making the trip even more special. Opportunities like this go far beyond the classroom, helping to build confidence, spark creativity, and expose students to new forms of expression.

Experiences in the arts play an important role in shaping the whole child, supporting not only academic growth but also social-emotional development, curiosity, and a deeper appreciation for the world around them.

*Photography wasn't allowed in the theater for this performance.

A big THANK YOU to Colburn Sugar House for warmly welcoming our K/1 students for such a memorable afternoon! 🍁

With the support of Green Mountain Farm to School, students had the opportunity to tour the sugarhouse, participate in a delicious maple taste test, enjoy a fun maple-themed activity, and even take part in an exciting relay race!

Maple sugaring is such an important part of life in Vermont. It’s more than just making syrup—it’s a tradition that has been passed down for generations, deeply rooted in the history and culture of the region. Each spring, as the temperatures rise and fall, sugar makers tap maple trees and collect sap, continuing a practice that dates back to Indigenous peoples of the Northeast.

Today, maple production remains a vital part of Vermont’s agricultural economy and identity. In fact, Vermont is the leading producer of maple syrup in the United States! Sugaring season brings communities together, supports local farms and businesses, and offers hands-on learning opportunities for students to connect with nature, science, and local traditions.

Experiences like this bring learning to life and help our students better understand—and appreciate—the rich heritage right here in our own backyard. We are so grateful for your time, generosity, and enthusiasm!

⭐Colleague of the Week⭐

Shout out to our physical education teacher, Dana Jacobs! Dana has dedicated 10 years to serving the Barton community in his role and, this year, is sharing his time between the Glover and Barton schools. In addition to teaching, he serves as our district’s athletic coordinator, working hard to strengthen and expand our middle school athletic programs. This year, Dana also coached basketball, further supporting our student-athletes both on and off the court.

Mr. Jacobs creates an engaging, energetic, and inclusive environment where students build skills, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for physical activity and wellness. Whether it’s cooperative games, fitness challenges, or skill-building activities, his classes are always full of movement, teamwork, and fun. This past week, students especially enjoyed working together with the big parachute—bringing lots of smiles and laughter to the gym!

We are grateful for his dedication, positivity, and the many ways he supports our students’ health and well-being every day.
