This winter season, students and staff had the opportunity to take part in a variety of engaging outdoor and recreational experiences through the school’s winter activity programming, thanks to partnerships with several local facilities.

At Fenton Chester Arena, more than 50 students and staff ice-skated. Throughout the program, participants spent time on the ice practicing balance, movement, and basic techniques, with many showing tremendous improvement over the course of the six weeks.

Students also enjoyed time in the pool at the Comfort Inn & Suites, where up to 10 students attended each week. Under direct staff supervision and equipped with personal flotation devices, students were able to safely enjoy the water while building comfort and confidence in an aquatic environment.

Another highlight of the season was our visits to the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, where approximately 40 students and staff participated in Cross-Country Skiing. The experience provided students with the opportunity to be active in Vermont’s winter landscape while exploring one of the region’s premier outdoor recreation destinations.

Programs such as these play an important role in connecting students with local resources while promoting healthy, active lifestyles. Providing opportunities for young learners to experience Vermont’s winter environment through physical activity continues to be an exciting and meaningful part of the school’s seasonal programming.
